I'm Crazy Scared....but....

So I'm crying to my husband this morning about being unable to surrender....crying that if I do...yah I know......yadda yadda yadda and he just listens and hugs me and goes to work. Not 5 minutes later he calls me to turn on the radio and listen to this song that he says has always made him think of me...beyond the obvious name connection the lyrics were much needed and comforting this morning...God is good....my husband is a man of God....he says it's us or needs to be us......I have to agree.....

Becky has a house on Abundant Live Boulevard
A good name, good family, and butterflies in her yard
Becky loves Jesus and really wants to make Him proud
She tears up in church and she sings her harmonies loud
She's got a Bible by the bed, a prayer journal, and a fish on her car
She makes sure to bow her head and give thanks in every restaurant
But is that enough?
C'mon Becky, let's go for a ride If I'm driving too fast then I apologize
But there's a world out there that we left behind
Full of souls as important as yours and mine
Looks like a reckless road, and a sacrifice
And I'm crazy scared it may cost our lives
But then I remember Jesus died So c'mon Becky Let's go for a ride
I'm rolling up to Becky's house on my Sunday drive I have to laugh to myself 'cause it looks exactly like mine I smile and wave at all the happy people strolling by
We've got the same walk, same talk, and the same sparkle in our eyes
'Cause we're thankful for the blessings, but maybe we could lay 'em aside
I get a feeling we might be missin' the time of our lives So hop in and hold on tight C'mon Becky, let's go for a ride If I'm driving too fast then I apologize
But there's a world out there that we left behind
Full of souls as important as yours and mine
Looks like a reckless road, and a sacrifice
And I'm crazy scared it may cost our lives
But then I remember Jesus died So c'mon Becky Let's go for a ride
'Cause we're thankful for the blessings, but maybe we could lay 'em aside?
I get a feeling we might be heading for the time of our lives

What a great song!
Following Christ is certainly not for the fainthearted. If done in complete abandon it will be the ride of our lives. Terrifying and what an adventure...I sometimes feel as if I am falling off of a cliff. If He doesn't catch me.....
He has always caught me so far...oh yeah, one more thing...Seems to me that His way always costs EVERYTHING...every time. Pay up and hop on! :)

WOW! The perfect song for the moment. Surrender...do we ever fully surrender once and for all or is it a lifelong process?

It IS a lifelong process!!!

Awesome, awesome song! So full of truth! Thanks for sharing!

And yeah, it is hard to surrender. We're human... But God gives us strength to let go. It's a daily... no, a minute-ly (?) decision to surrender. Every moment we decided to let go or hold on. That's the hardest part of it. Yeah, at church I'll whole-heartedly determine to surrender. But does it stick? No... unless I minute-ly decide to surrender.

Don't get too down on yourself. God knows it's not easy. A sacrifice is not supposed to be easy. Otherwise it wouldn't be a sacrifice. Be honest w/ God- tell Him it's really hard for you to surrender. God listens to the prayers of His children!

Sorry if this is long! I like to talk!

This is a journey we are all on...if we were perfect, it wouldn't be an issue! We're all Peter at one point or another...sometimes we can just walk on that water...sometimes we sink. But He is always there to pull us up.
