Why I Blog....How about you?

Daily Meditation for April 27, 2007

Writing to Save the Day
Writing can be a true spiritual discipline. Writing can help us to concentrate, to get in touch with the deeper stirrings of our hearts, to clarify our minds, to process confusing emotions, to reflect on our experiences, to give artistic expression to what we are living, and to store significant events in our memories. Writing can also be good for others who might read what we write.Quite often a difficult, painful, or frustrating day can be"redeemed" by writing about it. By writing we can claim what we have lived and thus integrate it more fully into our journeys. Then writing can become lifesaving for us and sometimes for others too.

Oh my gosh, I wrote this same quote on my blog today...did you know that or is this just a coincidence? I guess we get the same devotional :)

This quote from Henri explains exactly why I write.

BJK,

I am not very familiar with Nouwen, but I do especially like one of students, Fred Rogers.

Your posts are uplifting here. I am glad I to have found this blog.

I blog as a means of examining the issues that I face. Sometimes this means wrestling with God in public, never a pretty sight. Sometimes as I write I discover things about myself that I had never seen before. And other times someone will comment on my blog and set off another string of thoughts.

Other reasons sometimes I:
- am narcissistic
- seek validation of my perspective
- want input into my situation
- feel alone and want to matter
- want to share an insight that has been important to me
- want to share a link to a valuable resource
- want to spur conversation
- have a prayer request
- am bored
- an angel of the Lord appeared to me on my keyboard and commanded me to type (well, maybe not this one)

well said.. I haven't really thot of why I do.. I just know that it truly helps to get it all out and look at it. Sometimes it helps it to not look so big.
