2 Kings 6 & 7; 2 Chronicles 20; 1 Timothy 3

Convicted this AM in that my anger at You for being the answer, I lost all the JOY in that….the frustration got in the way of any and all humility, at that truth…….the anger FELT good and powerful, when You ask for a powerlessness……
and of course I don’t WANT to live powerless…….

2 Chronicles 20: 14 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
15 He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.' "
18 Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. 19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with very loud voice.

You and only You…
Power is of and from You alone….
Victory is as You declare…
Are we to wallow in our powerlessness???
Of course not…..?
Pray…..
If all of us believing were prayerful, if I were prayerful, instead of scrambling for power oh what would you do??

1 Timothy 3
Overseers and Deacons
1 Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,he desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.
8 Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
11In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
12 A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
14 Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, 15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. 16 Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great:
He appeared in a body,
was vindicated by the Spirit,
was seen by angels,
was preached among the nations,
was believed on in the world,
was taken up in glory.

I worry about, no, I struggle for power, in the way things are. Rather than any kind of resting in the powerlessness and trust of who is IN CHARGE….churches falling apart, people leaving in droves of disappointment….is it because we ……....
see the powerlessness, drives me instead of humbly to Him, to a wanting to KNOW……
how about you how do you handle powerlessness…sucks don’t it? Or seriously does it??

There are those who create amazing ministries…….there are those who create amazing churches and opportunities to serve….there are those who in disease and failing health and tragedy continue to seek God and inspire others…..what if we all ….what if I spent more time seeking You and your will instead of looking at what others do…..?? What if I spent more time listening to Your voice speaking to me, instead of being envious of Your speaking to others…….What if when I heard I actually moved.....obeyed.....?

I appreciate your post. I can identify with your struggle with power. Who wants to feel powerless? When we lose power, we lose control. That's not something that most people wish for. It is when we become powerless that God is able to work and do exactly what He wants to do in our lives. Easier said then done though, right?
