From the reading for Sunday
Matthew 10: 39 (The Msg) If your first concern is to look after yourself, you'll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you'll find both yourself and me.
Matthew 10:39 (NLT) If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it.
Matthew 10:39 (NIV) Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

And then from my BD SURPRISE party on Friday nite:

C'mon Becky, let's go for a ride
If I'm driving too fast then I apologize
But there's a world out there that we left behind
Full of souls as important as yours and mine
Looks like a reckless road, and a sacrifice
And I'm crazy scared it may cost our lives
But then I remember Jesus died
So c'mon BeckyLet's go for a ride

My husband took the Chris Rice Me and Becky song and made a video w/ all of our motorcycle trips.....the pictures were awesome but the lyrics, the lyrics get me every's about giving up my life, my desires, to and for His and when I do, in the moments that HE is my focus......the blessings are absolutely incredible.
And I think what is happening in me is that even without the blessings I am coming to know the character of a really awesome and amazing God......and CS Lewis had it absolutely right ....
Put first things first, and we get second things thrown in. Put second things first, and we lose both first and second things......

I think He wants us seeking Him above everything else and in that seeking, this amazing relationship develops and the God of the universe has wanted that all along.......
He doesn't say it will be without suffering, in fact He pretty much lays out there... it is going to be filled w/suffering but we will never be alone in it........
I have protected myself for long hearts desire is to know and be known by Him......and to never be alone is a great promise......let alone in Christ I have the promise of eternity worshipping's not going to be easy is it???!!! Exciting yes but EASY NO!

I missed your birthday. I am a terrible friend. Your husband sounds like a gem!!! How wonderful and thoughtful and meaningful! I just love your whole family.

Happy B-day late - sorry. I was selfishly caught up in my own world.

YES! i totally was thinking that this week too. on sunday. as we have the opportunity to manipulate situations and get what we want, and as i was about to manipulate, i stopped and realized that i can manipulate to get what i want, or stop, and let god be god and take what he wants for me. wouldn't that be so much better than what i want? i must die to self.

WOW! I love it. I can really relate to this topic, I seem to be so full of myself most days it makes me crazy. My heart knows to seek the Lord, but my brain does the opposite some time. Thank you for the reminder and for being so willing to share your light.

Chris Rice! LOVE it! I saw him a couple of years ago in concert, he was awesome.
