Can I just say I loved hearing all your thoughts......been struggling some w/my own correctability and a real stubborn streak. He never lets up and yet I don't feel at all beat up, just a real yearning to BE different, and yet a real hesitancy to just DO IT...like I said flippin stubborn!! Then this morning Oswald really had something and going to share that here......I don't alway 'get' all of it but seems something always jumps out at me.

CAREFUL INFIDELITY
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body what ye shall put on. Matthew 6:25

Jesus sums up common-sense carefulness in a disciple as infidelity.
If we have received the Spirit of God, He will press through and say - Now where does God come in in this relationship, in this mapped out holiday, in these new books? He always presses the point until we learn to make Him our first consideration. Whenever we put other things first, there is confusion.
"Take no thought . . ." don't take the pressure of forethought upon yourself. It is not only wrong to worry, it is infidelity, because worrying means that we do not think that God can look after the practical details of our lives, and it is never any thing else that worries us. Have you ever noticed what Jesus said would choke the word He puts in? The devil? No, the cares of this world. It is the little worries always. I will not trust where I cannot see, that is where infidelity begins. The only cure for infidelity is obedience to the Spirit.
The great word of Jesus to His disciples is abandon.

Where is the balance, then? Am I supposed to just sit someplace and wait for food or money to drop into my lap? Common sense seems essential. Do I walk out in front of a bus, assuming that God will stop it or allow my molecules to interpenetrate?

Maybe it's the long-term things. If I don't go to the grocery store I'll run out of food, but the long-term thing is that God will make sure I have money to buy food with?

Where does free will fit with this? It's simple to say "Abandon" but every day I see people who have abandoned plans, and society has abandoned them.

I think God can teach me where the balance is, and is doing so day by day. It's hard to describe, though, and hard to talk about.

Larry God hs already given you the answer for food. It's says that you should work. Buy doing so He is providing the money for food. It also say not to tempt the Lord our God. So standing in front of a bus would be tempting God to do a miracle. The thing is we lose sight of what God ahs intended for us and we go after or own desires and needs. That's why we need to seek after God's desires in our lives so our true focus is on what God wants in our lives. And everthing that we need will come into place.
