Deuteronomy 25-27; Galatians 5

What if the world IS this giant fishbowl and God is wanting us to escape. God dependence requires a GREAT NEEDINESS and we do a pretty good job of denying or filling that need while in the fish bowl…what IS more needy you know, than a fish out of water??

Galatians 5: 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Wow, Becky. I needed this to start my day. THIS IS SO GOOD! Wow.

I do a very good job of denying and filling my needs in my fishbowl...I need to jump out. (can fish jump?)

As long as we can fill our own need we will...only in getting desperate do we find Him...Blessed are the poor in spirit...desperately in need of Him...Lord keep me in need of you

I had an interesting conversation with God last night. He made the comment that "Unless you're free you can't choose to be a slave." I'd been thinking about Paul's statement that he considered himself to be a slave of Christ, and slavery isn't very atttractive to me.

But, yeah, I'm still a slave. To the wrong kinds of things. God is working to free me. Of course freedom looks horrifying.

Jesus says his yoke is light. Being a slave to him probably won't be nearly so bad as being a slave to my own ideas, and yet He's strange. Different.

And yet... I see the effects of God's kindness in me. I hear his voice and it's attractive, drawing me up out of that familiar pit. Comfortable as it has been for all these years it's less attractive.

So... be patient. How does God accomplish drawing out the spirit of a frightened man? By constantly being Himself, no matter what I do. He is I Am, and He cares.
