Joshua 23 & 24; Psalm 44; 1 Corinthians 11

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

Oswald Chambers: Choose you this day whom you will serve. Joshua 24:15 I cannot give up my will, I must exercise it. I must will to receive God’s spirit. It is a deliberate calculation, not something to drift into easily.

It IS a journey and if ‘the point of the JOURNEY is to want what God wants more than anything'... he’s right, not something I drift into but something I will forever chase after falling down and getting up again, but chasing after with my heart wide open….scary, risky stuff.

I like the way the Message puts it: "If you decide that it's a bad thing to worship God, then choose a god you'd rather serve - and do it today. Choose one of the gods your ancestors worshiped from the country beyond The River, or one of the gods of the Amorites, on whose land you're now living. As for me and my family, we'll worship God." It's always a choice, eh?

Chasing after God with your heart wide open is indeed very risky. But I am believing that the payoff is well worth it!

Yep, like Bruce said it's always a choice. Yet some days it's harder to make that choice to keep going then it is on others.
