Ezra 5 & 6; Psalm 138; Luke 16

Met with a gal last nite and this one ahhh she melted my heart. So trapped in who she is yearning to discover who You might want her to be and to recognize the trap and see how she doesn’t see it…more evidence of the brokenness we all share. How it looks different in and on another person but the brokenness is the commonality. ...To ever see ourselves as whole without how we get there, through the brokenness keeps us deluded. And He knew it and calls us at every turn to look to Him. So to point her to THAT love is all I can do, am supposed to do.

Psalm 138:
8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;
your love, O LORD, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.
Can I hold onto this verse while giving it to her, the desire for purpose…..Your purpose and us to release whatever we may ‘think’ it is or what it looks like into what You say it is.
Luke is tough, to believe something so intangible and stand on it in a world that looks for tangibles. What is faith without being something uncontainable/explainable ? By it’s very definition…...
Theology is for explaining and yet ...doesn’t it, can’t it muddy up what people are looking for? When we are looking for Jesus what is it that draws us there, to a seeking that is written about in songs and.....are we drawn in the seeking to another persons faith or theology?? If our faith is in God, in His son can’t that be used by Him to draw others to us and in that drawing IF we point them to a journey will they not discover the TRUTH that John 3:16 God so loved the world.... and that takes you to discovering/wrestling with the trinity which takes you to Jesus dying and rising which takes you to asking WHY which......…… And yet to know that people may look at you like you are a couple of bricks short of a load….
Luke 16: 14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15 He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight.. so another man cannot know our hearts but He does and He knows theirs and…..
God knows our hearts so He knows that this story today is making me uncomfortable…..

Luke 16: The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
25 "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
27 "He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'
30" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

Your thoughts on brokenness are scarin' me, here - that is the direction I am going in my next post.

About the faith stuff...I'm thinking we can only point; it is the Spirit's job to lead; God's job to provide the answers; and the seeker's job to question. ???

Just wanted to say thank you for stopping by and leaving some love on my blog.

Funny thing about brokeness, as you said "it looks different in and on another person but the brokenness is the commonality..." once you allow God to see it in yourself, it looks just like everyone elses.

I know I have been blessed with a good job, nice place, health (for the most part) and people who love me, yet it has taken me almost 30 years to figure out my problems are so small, they really don't register on the rictor scale of major life problems. That being said I am still a mess, a mess whom is being cleaned up by God in a number of ways.

Funny how it is easy to see something in someone else, to give good solid advice, yet to take our own we often feel helpless and not up for the task. One more reason God created this thing called love and relations.

Peace.

the most difficult this we do as believers is "get involved" in the lives of people.

the second most difficult this we do is not take ownership of that life we get involved in.

good stuff.
